Guest Post: Little Bits of Lovely

Hello, lovelies! This is Rachel from Little Bits of Lovely and I'm so thrilled to be here guest posting for Melissa. When Melissa asked me to guest post on anything to do with summer, I initially was hesitant because where I am from, in Sydney, it is winter and freezing cold to boot! But then I thought I would post about the place I would most like to be to escape the cold and what my dream suitcase would contain....that place would Greece, specifically, the island of Santorini.

How magical do the crystal clear blue waters look? Absolute perfection. I can smell the clear blue air and salty water right now...

Now for my holiday essentials...

I hope you have enjoyed this mini escape and thank you so much Melissa for having me here today!

Long Lasting Leopard Love

Much to the Hubs dismay, leopard is going nowhere.  All over the place for fall, he'll have to endure yet another season of this spotted print.  I love it and always have.  Back to the days of my Ralph Lauren leopard sheets and through the years I've remained devoted.  Even the leopards we saw on our honeymoon were truly my favorite sightings.

I'm putting together a collage for you which I'll post next week, so you'll have plenty of options of spotted pieces to pull together your fall wardrobe.

Prob not looks I will be sporting in this fall (OR EVER) but these ladies rock 'em for sure.
 J. Crew is chock-full of leopard for fall.
A look I have not the time nor the patience to even have someone do for me... still think it looks rad.

Joanna Hillman

I spotted Joanna Hillman yesterday on the street in Soho as she was overseeing a photo shoot and looking amazing, as always.  Her signature side braid was in full effect.  I couldn't help but come home and pull up images that capture her effortless style but found that the options are a little out of date (although plenty from the Wardrobe Diaries: 30 Days of Style).  Regardless, she rocks and I love her look!

Contrasting Bookshelves

A friend and I have been back and forth recently on whether we like the look of contrasting bookshelves.  As in one color at the back of the bookcase with (usually) white shelves.  Some use paint, others use wallpaper and my final opinion, like most anything else, is that I like it when done well.  So tell us..... what do you think of this look?

California Gurl

This whole summer I have been dying to get to LA, more specifically Malibu.  With July drawing to a close, it doesn't look like I will make it out west this summer but the good news is I can go any time this fall and still get the gorgeous weather I long for.  Loving this Fashion Gone Rogue spread... beachy waves, crochet apparel, statement jewels... swoon.

Guest Post: Long Distance Loving

Happy Friday! My name is {av} and I'm thrilled to be guest posting here at Strong Sense of Style while Melissa enjoys a few days away in the Lonestar State. {I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful lady behind this blog at a blogger meet-up in NYC this past May. She's just a doll, so you should be happy to have found your way here!} On most days, you can find me at {long distance loving}, where I host a link-up on everyone's favorite day of the week called Friday's Fancies. I decided to create a Friday's Fancies with Melissa's trip south in mind--I hope you like it :)

1) Everything about this T-Bags Embellished Jersey Maxi Dress screams summer to me. I think it would be positively perfect for an easy, breezy date night like the one Melissa has in store tonight in Houston.
2) These Fallon Collections Vanishing Microspike Hoop Earrings added a little edge to this get-up, but I thought it paired well with that killer studded clutch below. I couldn't resist adding them!
3) Nothing says date night like a bold lipstick, like this Chanel Hydrabase Lipstick in Fiesta. I loved the color--and the name! I thought it was great for a fun night out in Texas :)
4) Though I could have easily added a killer pair of heels, I'm all about comfort, so these Musa Braided Metallic Leather Sandals fit the bill splendidly. They definitely pack a bigger punch than an average pair of flip-flops.
5) What girl would ever pass up on Gucci? Case in point: these Gucci Round-Frame Acetate Sunglasses.  I loved their delicate frames and thought they would be a nice contrast rom the spiky earrings!
6) If I were to pick favorites in this outfit, I think this Emilio Pucci Studded Textured Leather Clutch just might edge out that fabulous maxi dress. It's bold and beautiful, which is just how every girl should feel on a date night.

What's your go-to summer date night outfit?

Be sure to stop by and check out the other Friday's Fancies today at {long distance loving}!
Many thanks again to Melissa for having me :)  xoxo {av}

Summer Time

Please forgive my delayed posts this week.  I'm down in Houston, enjoying time with friends and family and I've been blogging from a coffee shop (a la Perez from his early days).   It's been great to see everyone, play with their kids and catch up in general without feeling so rushed.  Loving summer in the steamy south!

Be sure to check back tomorrow as {av} from Long Distance Loving will be guest posting.  She never disappoints....

Dining Style

I always wonder how to leave the dining room table when you're not entertaining.... so just your everyday look.  I want it to look polished and complete but don't want to seem overdone.  I pulled some images of different dining styles to give me a few options to think about.  How is your table set day to day?

The full size pair of lamps are an interesting choice.
